Lewiston Elks install officers


LEWISTON – Lewiston Elks Lodge 371 installed its slate of officers for the 2006-2007 year on April 15 at the Elks Lodge, Lisbon Street, attended by 180 people from across the state. The installing officer was David Strand, a past exalted ruler (past president) of Bath Elks Lodge 934 and tiler for the Maine Elks Association.

Installed as officers for the Lewiston Elks were: exalted ruler, Joyce Strand; leading knight, Eric Levasseur; loyal knight, Tammy Judd; secretary, Angelo Andrianos; treasurer, Linda Caouette; esquire, Christopher Gendron; inner guard, Pamela Bickford; tiler, Robbie Gagne; organist, Connie Lambert; five-year trustee, Jackielynn Farrell; four-year trustee, Elmer Berry; three-year trustee, Paul Veilleux; two-year trustee, Rodney Woodrum; and one-year trustee, Bennie Judd.

Outgoing Exalted Ruler Jackielynn Farrell thanked the officers and members for a successful year and presented awards to volunteers and members.

The Elk of the Year Award was presented to Joseph Travaglini, Officer of the Year Award to Trustee Fred Bernard, Citizen of the Year to Cindy Morin and Outstanding Service Commendations to Wayne Cotterly and Linda Caouette.

In her address to the membership, incoming Exalted Ruler Joyce Strand said the lodge will focus on teamwork during the coming year in an effort to uphold the charitable works of the order. The installation was special for Strand, as her husband, David, served as the installing officer.

The Lewiston Lodge is one of 22 in the state as part of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. The order sponsors programs that support charities, Americanism, drug awareness, scholarships, youth and veterans.
