Lewiston Police officer Eric Syphers frisks Mohamed Mohamed, 25, of Lewiston, who initially refused to identify himself Tuesday morning after being arrested on several charges.   Shortly after the police received reports of an erratic driver, officer Bill Rousseau, left, examining items found on the subject, spotted the vehicle and began to follow. The suspect drove into a lot off Bartlett Street near the Root Cellar where he jumped out and ran into a large apartment building at 220 Blake St. The suspect’s hoodie, being held by officer Keith Caouette, was found on the third floor. Police surrounded the building and the suspect was arrested a short time later at that address. According to Lt. David St.Pierre, Mohamed was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence (Class D), Criminal Speed (Class E) and Failing to provide correct name and/or date of birth to a Law Enforcement Officer (Class E).  St.Pierre credits surveillance cameras throughout the downtown area aiding in the identification and apprehension of Mohamed.
