LEWISTON — The Lewiston Youth Advisory Council is calling all pre-K through grade-eight students to submit artwork relative to its T.A.L.K. positive communication campaign, Treat All Listeners Kindly.
The campaign was launched on Feb. 7. LYAC members recently held a community T.A.L.K. workshop at the YWCA.
LYAC is continuing to encourage individuals to communicate with others in a respectful manner. Whether the conversation is at school, at home, at work, in the community or in political discussions, LYAC wants people to remember that it’s important to “share your perspective, not your attitude.”
LYAC is looking for artwork consisting of poems, photos, drawings or paintings that show the importance of being respectful when talking and treating all listeners kindly.
Submissions will be on display at a free T.A.L.K. Youth Art Gallery Event from 6 to 7 p.m Wednesday, May 10, at the Lewiston Public Library in Callahan Hall, 200 Lisbon St.
Attending youth who submit items will receive a free T.A.L.K. water bottle and have an opportunity to sign a 6-foot T.A.L.K. banner. LYAC members will be on hand to greet and interact with attendees.
Parking will be available on Lisbon Street, as well as at the Centreville Parking Garage, 29 Chestnut St., Lewiston. Parking is free after 6 p.m. Garage tickets will be validated in the children’s room for those who arrive earlier.
The deadline for submission is April 24. Items may be sent to LYAC at Lewiston City Hall – Administrator’s Office, 27 Pine St., Lewiston, ME 04240, or emailed to email@example.com.
