Library celebrates spring

RUMFORD – The Rumford Public Library will present “A May Garland” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the library.

In northern Europe, the first of May has been a time for revelry and celebration. The world is released from winter’s grasp and spring enlivens every living thing.

In this year’s May Garland, traditional musicians Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee of Round Pond, known as Castlebay, will join voices and instruments to weave together songs and tunes celebrating the coming of May.

Their vocals are supported with a variety of instruments, including Celtic harp, 12-string guitars, fiddle and woodwinds. The music will be interspersed with legends and lore, humor and historic anecdotes.

Admission is free. For more information, call 364-3661 or e-mail [email protected]
