LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Training. The class sessions will take place from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28.
The course will teach students the knowledge and skills essential to prevent, and if necessary, respond to aquatic emergencies appropriately. It will include American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional rescuers and standard first aid.
Participants must be at least 15 years of age and complete a 300-yard swim and timed deep water object removal prerequisite to starting the course. The prerequisite tests will take place on the first day of classes.
Members of the YWCA will pay $225 for the session and nonmembers will pay $250. Space is limited and registration needs to be in by Nov. 4. For more information or to register, call the YWCA of Central Maine at 795-4050 or e-mail email@example.com.
