Thunderstorms rolled through Lewiston and Auburn on Tuesday evening causing power outages across the region.

If you’re in the dark, or were for a while Tuesday, blame the weather.

According to Central Maine Power, more than 3,700 people across Androscoggin and Oxford counties were without power Tuesday as a line of powerful thunderstorms rolled through the region.

CMP confirmed that lightning from the thunderstorms caused the outages. Several wires were down on Switzerland Road in Lewiston.

Down trees and power lines along Pequwaket Trail in Baldwin left more than 1,000 people without power in Oxford County. CMP crews shut down part of Crawford Road to the Hiram line as crews worked to clean up the mess.

The heavy rain also created problems. Center Street in Auburn looked like a river, as flooding took over the road.
