LEWISTON — Linwood G. Bradstreet of Durham passed away at the young age of 97.
He was born Oct. 22. 1912, in Lewiston, the son of Charles and Geneva (Newbegin) Bradstreet. He was educated in Lewiston and Auburn schools. In 1950, he married Gladys Stackpole. After moving to Durham, he ran a farm and together with his wife raised two children.
He was a member of the Durham Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years, and served on their budget committee for several years. He worked many years for G.A. Peterson before retiring in 1976 from Bonon Footwear.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He loved growing his flowers and vegetable gardens, traveling and playing cribbage. He also enjoyed reading, watching ball games, and waving to all that passed by his window as well as visits from family and friends. In 1985, he married Anita Lacroix.
Survivors include a daughter, Linnie Edwards and her husband, Curtis, a son, Dana Bradstreet and his companion, Brenda Martin, all of Durham; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Winnie Gravlin.
