Lisbon man charged with theft of guns


LISBON — A 19-year-old Lisbon man was arraigned Monday on charges of burglary and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person after a break-in at a Lisbon apartment Saturday.

Michael Harriman of 11 Mill St. appeared in 8th District Court in Lewiston and was placed on a probation hold by the Maine Department of Corrections, officials said. He was being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $2,500 cash bail, a jail spokesman said.

Harriman was arrested by Lisbon police early Saturday morning, less than 30 minutes after a burglary was reported at an apartment in the Lisbon center area, Chief David Brooks said. Police recovered a Beretta tomcat .32-caliber handgun and a Beretta .22-caliber pistol. One was recovered in Lisbon and the other in Lewiston. Also recovered was another loaded handgun.

Harriman was charged with burglary,theft and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, Brooks said.

Harriman was recently released from the county jail after serving 30 days of a three-year sentence for theft of a firearm. He was released on two years probation.
