AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union held its 10th annual Mother, Daughter, Doll Enchanted Tea on May 1, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St., with more than 200 in attendance.
Due to the overwhelming attendance at last year’s tea, this year brought three separate sessions with reservations requested for each session. The main meeting room was transformed into an Enchanted Forest with a castle, raffles, fairies and woodland creatures. This year’s storyteller, Susan Pease, brought fairies to life for young girls and adults attending the tea.
Guests were able to shop in the Doll Boutique, where handmade doll clothes were available. A party dress with accessories was raffled at the end of each session. Winners were, Molly Skelton, Kathleen Dean and Alexis McLaughlin. The American Girl Doll Rebecca Rubin was raffled at the end of the tea. Lillith Price-Wharff, 6, of Lewiston, granddaughter of the winner, claimed the doll.
The tea is a fundraiser for the Woman’s Literary Union, which offers a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior in Androscoggin County and allows for the preservation of the former home of Horatio and Ella Foss.
