Little League: Auburn Fire wins wild one


AUBURN – Noah Moreshead’s home run capped a five-run fifth inning to seal Auburn Fire Fighters’ 18-10 win over HRH in Auburn Suburban Little League major division baseball.

Noah Perron was 3-for-3 to fuel Fire (5-2). Austin Cox, Noah Yarnevich and Tyler Blanchard added big hits. Kodi Berube and Caleb Yarnevich made timely defensive stops to protect the lead. Race Bouchard, Brandon Knapp, John David Hird and Steven Sinclair led the hit parade for HRH.

Dillingham and Son used a strong defensive effort to defeat Hudson Bus in a minor baseball battle. Tristan Stevens and Giles Paradie led the Dillingham offense with three hits apiece. Storm Jipson and Boden Dock made big plays with the gloves. Cam Sturgis had the hefty bat for Hudson.

LEWISTON – Jordan Ferrell drove in five runs to propel Dube Flower past Elite Auto, 18-1, in Elliot Ave. Little League major division baseball.

Owen McCarthy picked up his third win on the season without a loss for Dube (5-1), striking out six without issuing a walk. Ferrell was 2-for-3 with a double. Brady Cusson, Jacob McBride, McCarthy, Izrael Ferrell, Jordan Ferrell, Sean O’Donnell and Kaleb Hebert all scored two or more runs for Dube. Rookie Matt Gaudette had 2 RBIs in the effort.

Third-year player Austin Craig provided the lone hit and only run for Elite (1-5).

Pitch, Hit & Run

FREEPORT – Two area youths were top-three finishers at the state level of the Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition. Connor Emmons placed second overall in the state in the 7/8-year-old boys’ bracket. Brock Belanger was third among 9/10-year-old boys.
