Local art instructor to exhibit in June

FARMINGTON – Heirlooms of Tomorrow, 710 Wilton Road, will feature art instructor Leon LaRoche’s work during June. The public is invited to an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 2, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3. Refreshments will be served, and LaRoche will be on hand to explain his work, technique and teaching style.

LaRoche began his art career in 1990, having taken classes from Shirley Welch. He soon opened his own studio at the Carousel Crafts building in Jay. He has taught adult education classes for SADs 9 and 36. During the past 15 years, he estimates he has had 750 students under his tutelage.

While oil is his favorite medium, he enjoys watercolor and acrylic. LaRoche has been in many art shows and has won numerous awards. His newest endeavor is learning portraiture at classes in Portland.
