In reading about Mayor Gilbert’s monthly “Round Table,” I was literally shocked when I read that it was occurring at a Burger King.
Putting aside the fact that meeting at a fast food joint doesn’t exactly promote the best health messages, don’t you think the mayor would consider supporting some of our small local businesses not affiliated with a nation fast food chain?
How about trying Willy Beans, Guthrie’s, Antonio’s Deli, or The Pop Shop, just to name a few.
Lewiston is a place that seems to be on the verge of a transition. Positive values seem to be getting stronger. Art, education and culture seem to be creeping back into the mills that have been empty for so long.
Among those core values are community and health, and only by strengthening them all can Lewiston truly grow.
