WALDOBORO — Emily Keene posted a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds, while Sam Richards tossed in 12 points to lead Spruce Mountain to a 50-43 victory over Medomak Valley in girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Phoenix (7-0) paced themselvs with 15 points in each of the first three quarters, finding themselves in a 30-30 halftime dead heat. But, a nine-point margin in the third frame carried them to their seventh win on the season.
The Panthers (5-2) went on a 23-point tear in the second quarter, but couldn’t muster more than seven points in any other frame. Sophie Marks led all scorers with 15 points for Medomak Valley.
Mountain Valley 60, Madison 29
AUGUSTA — Sophomore forward Liza White netted a game-high 12 points and hauled down nine rebounds as Mountain Valley sailed to a 60-29 triumph over Madison in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Falcons (3-3) soared in the second quarter as Ashley Russell scored all 11 of her points in the frame. Emily Laubauskas and Karen Flaherty also contributed 11 points each for Mountain Valley.
The Bulldogs put up a tough first quarter, taking a 9-6 lead in the opening frame. Guard Sydney Leblance tossed a team-high eight points for Madison in the losing effort.
Medomak 56, Spruce Mountain 50
JAY — Nick DePatsy collected a game-high 23 points to lead Medomak Valley to a 56-50 victory over Spruce Mountain in boys’ basketball action Saturday.
Following a 23-23 tie at halftime, the Panthers were motivated in the third quarter by taking a six-point lead in the frame. Micah Williamson helped carry the load, contributing 19 points.
Tyler Kachnovich led the Phoenix (3-4) with five field goals from three-point range for 15 points. Deonte Ring chipped in with 10 points for Spruce Mountain.
Cony 56, Oxford Hills 50
AUGUSTA — Liam Stokes scored 13 points to lead the Cony Rams (5-2) to a 56-50 victory over Oxford Hills in boys’ basketball action Saturday.
Andrew Fleming posted a double-double for the Vikings (4-3) with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Tyus Ripley contributed another 16 points for Oxford Hills.
Scarborough 2, Edward Little 1
SACO — The Edward Little Red Eddies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period, but the Scarborough Red Storm scored a goal in the second and third periods in the 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon. The Red Storm goal scorers were Cam Nigro and Skyler Pentingill. Ben Bragg made 29 saves as the Storm improve to 4-2 on the season.
The Red Eddies (3-3) goal came from Dixon Dilodopico 3:12 into the first period. Devin Dumont made 39 saves.
