Local roundup: Spruce Mountain comes back to beat Mt. Abram

SALEM — Spruce Mountain rallied back from a five-run deficit to pull out a 8-6 baseball win over Mt. Abram on Wednesday. 

Brett Hunt led the Phoenix (9-7) with three hits and four RBIs, while Shane Pelletier belted an RBI double.

ate Luce led the Roadrunners (6-10) with two hits and one RBI, highlighted by a triple in the third frame. 

Pelletier picked up the win, while Mt. Abram’s Hunter Warren suffered the loss. 

Madison/Carrabec 6, Mountain Valley 5

RUMFORD — Evan Holdsworth belted a well-time RBI double in the fourth inning to give Madison/Carrabec a narrow 6-5 late-season baseball win over Mountain Valley on Wednesday. 

Sean Whalen and Zach Belanger led the Bandits (11-5) with two hits apiece.

Dylan Desroches led the Falcons (11-5) with a key two-run double, while Will Bean drove in a run with a double in the sixth. 

Holdsworth earned the mound win with a solid five-hit effort, while Mountain Valley’s Ethan Laubauskas suffered the loss. 

Softball

Leavitt 6, MCI 2

TURNER — Emily Shaw scattered five hits and drew adequate run support as Leavitt closed out its 2018 regular-season softball campaign with  6-2 victory over MCI on Wednesday. 

Mallory Casey and Kassie Murch led the Hornets with three hits and two RBIs each. Annika Mitchell and Leah Maheux also contributed with two hits apiece. 

Sydney Morton led MCI with two hits and one RBI.
