Local student receives Woodmen scholarship

LIVERMORE — Christen N. Neil, of Livermore, has been awarded a $1,000, one-time, educational award in a national competition with other Modern Woodmen of America members.

The grant program can assist Modern Woodmen members age 25 and over who are working toward an undergraduate degree or certificate from an accredited college, university, trade or technical school. Neil, one of 10 award winners chosen this year, plans to use the award to attend Central Maine Community College in Auburn.

Applications for the 2010-11 Nontraditional Scholarship Award Program will be taken in the fall of 2010.
