Local students will exhibit art at USM gallery


GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine Art Department has announced its BFA Exhibit will be open to the public from Saturday, April 17 through Friday, May 7, in the Art Gallery.

An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 16. The senior thesis exhibit represents the culminating work of 14 bachelor of fine arts candidates with studio concentrations in ceramics, digital art, drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and sculpture.

Local exhibiting students include Daniel C. Pontbriand of Auburn, Naomi White of South Paris and Michael Joseph Ackerson of Wayne.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free. For more information, call Carolyn Eyler at 780-5008 or visit www.usm.maine.edu/gallery.
