Longtime musician will bring blues to Guthries

LEWISTON — On Friday, March 19, Poor Howard Stith of Dover, N.H., who has been performing 12-string barrelhouse blues for more than 30 years, will play at She Doesn’t Like Guthries.

Born in Kansas City and raised on a farm in Iowa, Stith emerged on the Minneapolis folk/blues scene in the late 1960s. He is known for his passion and reverence for the country blues of the 1920s and ’30s, as well as his anecdotes and puns shared onstage.

On Saturday, March 20, New Hampshire band Todo Bien will perform at the restaurant/cafe at 115 Middle St. The acoustic band, with a hint of reggae, is made up of Skip Brunette on guitar, vocals, harp and ukulele; Chris Asbell, guitar and vocals; John Reynolds, percussion; Melissa Patnaude, vocals; and John Coretto, upright bass.

Both shows start at 9 p.m. There is no cover. For more information, call 376-3344.
