• One of the severest electrical storms in years hit this section of the state Saturday evening, causing a large amount of damage, but no loss of life so far as reported. While Lewiston and Auburn proper escaped the worst of the storm, property losses were reported at Poland, Hebron, Mechanic Falls, East Livermore, Farmington, and Phillips.
• The famous “missing link” is now a thing of the past for an electric car has passed over the rails through Wells, connecting York with Kennebunk. The first car reached Wells Village at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

• The new air-conditioning system in the delivery room at the Central Maine General Hospital aroused the enthusiasm of both patients and hospital personnel when it was put into operation Thursday. “It was a pleasant surprise to come from the heat outdoors and find the pre-delivery room so cool and comfortable,” said one patient.
• The beaches and swimming pools were crowded yesterday as hundreds of Twin City kids tried to cool off, and the ones that weren’t at the beach were shouting, “Hey Mom. Why can’t I go swimming?” The sun working in a partly cloudy sky, pulled the mercury up from 61 degrees at 5 a.m. to 82 degrees at noon and to 88 degrees from 3 to 6 p.m.
