100 years ago, 1910

This evening will be the special attractive night at the Empire for the men of both cities. Every man accompanied by a woman will be admitted free, provided he secures his seats previous to 6 o’clock. This special offer has been made by the management of the Young-Adams Stock Co., who are this week the attraction at the Empire Theatre.

50 years ago, 1960

Shaping up fast is the new 35,000-square-foot building at Northwood Park, Main Street, Lewiston, which will be the new home for The Mart when completed in late spring. Construction has reached a point where the outline of the modern structure is clearly identifiable.

The Mart will occupy part of the L- shaped building with the IGA Foodliner taking an additional 4,200 square feet of space. Three smaller stores also will be located in the building. Gerard Construction Co. is the general contractor.

25 years ago, 1985


Cape Elizabeth girls out swam Lewiston High 50-33 in Friday’s meet at the YW pool, the next to the last dual contest on the LHS schedule. Lewiston finishes the regular slate at Deering next Friday and swims in Southwesterns and the state events in the weeks following.

Lewiston accounted for two firsts in Friday individual races and in the medley relay. Cindy Dilodovico and Lisa Lecompte won blue ribbons, the former in the 100 butterfly and Lecompte in the 100 backstroke. Dilodovico also was second in the 200 freestyle.
