SABATTUS — Mona Guertin, who has been teaching school for 30 years, has been chosen as Sabattus Elementary School’s nominee for state teacher of the year.

Ms. Guertin has taught all grades in various parochial schools in Maine and Massachusetts, and has been at the Sabattus school for 16 years.

Ms. Guertin says the best thing about being a teacher is being with young people and sharing in their concerns. “It’s an enjoyable challenge,” said the Sabattus resident.
