100 years ago, 1910

At the meeting of the Lewiston Public Works Commission held last evening, Mayor Morey called in Acting City Marshal Cailler and instructed him to notify all merchants not to throw any waste into the streets and to instruct his officers to do all in their power to keep people from throwing debris on the sidewalks and into the streets. Prosecutions are apt to follow if any person persists in not heeding the officers.

50 years ago, 1960

Two officials of Geiger Brothers publishing company in Lewiston leave today for a 25-day business trip that will take them to seven foreign countries.

Raymond A. Geiger, president, and Michael F. Rizzolo, vice president in charge of production, will visit various plants to study manufacturing methods and swap technical data relating to the production of books and calendars.

25 years ago, 1985

Roger P. Michaud of Lewiston has been elected to the Central Maine Medical Center board of trustees.

The founder and president of American Stabilis Inc., Michaud is a native of Lewiston who graduated from Lewiston High School and received a bachelor of fine arts degree from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vt. He founded and was president of the college’s first hockey team and was named to the Outstanding College Athletes of America and to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.
