JAY — Jake Bessey got on base with an error and came home with the winning run on winning pitcher Jake Lord’s walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving Jay a narrow 4-3 victory over Madison in a baseball game Wednesday.
The Tigers (3-9) snapped a six-game losing streak. Eli Capen doubled and had a single and Lord had a single to go along with his game-winning double.
Lord struck out eight batters. Jay had 12 hits on the day and commited just one error.
Leavitt 4, Oak Hill 1
TURNER — Jake Irish had two singles and Kevin Theiss drove in a pair of runs as Leavitt whipped up two key runs in the sixth inning and drifted off with a 4-1 victory in a baseballl game Wednesday.
The score was tied at 1-1 after three innings before the Hornets (5-8) came alive in the fifth and sixth inings.
Pitchers Josh Bunker, Tim Dow and Matt Bilodeau triple-teamed the Raiders (6-7). Losing pitcher Josh Martin and Brady Dion each had two hits.
Lewiston 5, Cony 2
LEWISTON — Lewiston put up three runs in the second inning Wednesday and pulled away to a 4-2 victory over Cony in a KVAC baseball tilt.
Chris Madden broke things open in the second frame with an RBI single that plated reliever Joe Sullivan. Madden led the powerhouse Blue Devils (12-1) with two hits and two RBIs, while Corbin Hyde belted a double.
The Rams (6-8) were paced by Luke Dunklee and Simon Yorks with two hits apiece.
Oxford Hills 9, Mt. Ararat 8
PARIS —Oxford Hills rallied back from a 5-0 deficit after the first frame and went on to edge Mt. Ararat 9-8 in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.
Ty Martin led the Vikings (7-7) with two hits and two RBIs, while Jordan Croteau belted a pair of hits. Logan Sanborn earned the mound win, working in relief of Ryan Godin.
Mt. Ararat (4-10) was led by Joey Vannote and Matt Harris with a triple and double respectively.
St. Dom’s 8, Georges Valley 5
THOMASTON — Joe Bryant ripped a pair of doubles and earned the victory on the mound to help lead St. Dom’s past Georges Vally 8-5 in an MVC baseball tilt.
The Saints wasted no time getting on the board, scoring four runs in the top of the first. Alex Parker led off the game with a double and scored on Bryant’s first double of the game. Jimmy Theriault blasted a two-run shot and Drew Gosselin made it back-to-back homers putting the Saints (11-2) up 4-0.
Catcher Drew Townsend paced the Buccaneers (3-8) with a pair of singles.
Erskine 3, EL 0
AUBURN — Shyler Scates scattered four hits while fanning six shutting out Edward Little 3-0 in a KVAC baseball clash.
Scoreless through five innings, Ryan Pulver delivered an RBI double, plating the first run of the game. Erskine added a pair of insurance runs later that inning for the win.
Edward Little (7-6) was led by James Jackson’s two hits, including a double. Nate Blais also had a pair of singles. The Red Eddies’ best chance to score came in the bottom of the sixth inning when Blais was thrown out at home plate trying to score on Jackson’s double.
Sean Cabaniss knocked a pair of singles for the Eagles (8-5). Scates also had a pair of hits while scoring a run. Luke Farrago took the loss for Edward Little.
Gray-New Gloucester 7, Poland 6
GRAY — Tim Lerette posted a pair of hits and RBIs to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 7-6 triumph over Poland in baseball action Wednesday.
The Patriots rallied for five runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead. Kevin Cavallaro recorded a double for Gray-New Gloucester as did Lerette.
Devin Goyette and Connor King collected a pair of hits each for the Knights (3-12).
Lewiston 10, Mt. Ararat 6
TOPSHAM — Elliot Chicoine netted five goals to help lead Lewiston to a 10-6 triumph in boys’ lacrosse action.
Chris Rancourt got the Blue Devils on the board three minutes into the game and never looked back. Lewiston (10-1) took an 8-2 lead into the half. Sam Cloutier and Curtis Robinson each had a pair of goals in the win.
Casey Becker paced Mt. Ararat (6-5) with three goals. Jesse Leeman turned away 12 Mt. Ararat shots in net for the Blue Devils.
EL 11, Mt. Blue 10
AUBURN — Drew Lupardo scored a team-high four goals to lead Edward Little to an 11-10 triumph over Mt. Blue in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.
Travis Landry contributed to the Red Eddies offense with three goals. Griffin Conlogue and Matt Davis netted four goals each for the Cougars.
Goalie Matt Berube made 15 saves to notch the win in net for Edward Little.
