1930 – 2014
CANTON — Lorraine E. Mercier, 83, of Livermore Falls, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Victorian Villa Rehabilitation & Living Center in Canton.
Lorraine was born on Dec. 22, 1930, a daughter of Albert and Albina Richard. Lorraine grew up in a family of 10 and attended local schools, graduating in the Class of 1949.
She married Victor D. Mercier on June 5, 1950, and together, they raised four children. They were married for 57 years before Victor passed away in 2007.
Lorraine spent 25 years working in the cafeteria at Livermore Falls High School. She was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed quilting in Brettuns Village Leather Craft Supply with a group of women and even taught a group of church ladies how to quilt on Friday nights.
Lorraine and Victor enjoyed singing and playing music together and even had their own band, Nickels & Dimes. Lorraine was a faithful member of Emmanuel Assembly of God in Livermore Falls.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Donald V. Mercier and his wife, Ilse, of Livermore Falls, Cathy Johnson and her husband, Jeffrey, of Wisconsin, Nancy Chicoine and her husband, Lawrence, of Livermore, and Lori Bryant and her husband, Jeffrey, of Livermore Falls; a sister, Gloria Tremblay of Florida; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Victor; and siblings, Fred, Marion Pomeroy, Arthur, Leo, Rita Ellenberger, Lenard, Robert and George.
