Louis P. Guilmette


SARASOTA, Fla. – Louis P. Guilmette, 82, Lakewood Ranch, Fla., died May 23, at Sarasota Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

He was born in Dover, N.H., Aug. 31, 1923, to Nellie Goupil Guilmette and C. Walter Guilmette. He relocated to Sarasota, Fla. from the Lewiston-Auburn area in 1993.

A Lewiston High School graduate with the Class of 1942, he completed one year at Holy Cross College, after which he was inducted into the U.S. military service during World War II. He served in the 387th Infantry Division in the European Theatre, followed by a year of service with the U.S. Army occupational troops in Japan. He also attended Providence College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine, Orono.

During his years in Maine, he was a real estate owner/broker for 35 years. In prior years, he was in advertising in New York City.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years, GiGi; daughter, Michele Kane of Massachusetts; son, Marc Guilmette of Maine; a sister, Gabrielle Guilmette of Sarasota, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Paul L. Guilmette in 1979; and a sister, JoAnn Guilmette McGibbon in 1983.
