• Two school directors for one year.

• One Planning Board member for five years.

• Two Planning Board alternates for one year.

• One Budget Committee member for three years.

• Two Budget Committee members for seven years.

Voters will also decide whether to recommend a code enforcement officer for appointment by the selectmen, and whether to nominate and elect other town officers.

Voters will also decide whether to establish a Lovell Friends Helping Friends account for heating assistance. Approval of this item would authorize selectmen to establish guidelines for eligibility for such assistance. It would also let the board collect and expend funds for the purpose and appoint an administrator or committee to oversee the fund.

The selectmen and Budget Committee recommend that the town raise $24,000 for a capital fund in anticipation of needed equipment for the Fire Department. Another article would raise $10,000 for a fund to purchase a new fire vehicle.

Stoneham’s meeting will take place at 10 a.m. at the fire station. Offices to be filled by election include:

• One town clerk for three years.

• One treasurer for three years.

• One tax collector for three years.

• One road commissioner for three years.

• One assistant fire chief for three years.

• One EMA director for one year.

• One school director for three years.

• One alternate school director for one year.

• Three members of the Board of Appeals for five years.

• Three members of the Cemetery Committee for three years.

Stoneham residents will be asked if they favor gathering information and estimates for the establishment of a new town office and community room, both of which are now in the fire station. Other articles ask if they will use money from the building fund to purchase a one-acre lot next to the town office, approve the necessary requirements for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants available to the town, and upgrade the current town office and community room.

Selectmen and the Budget Committee recommend minimal capital expenditures. They suggest raising $5,000 for a road fund and $4,500 for a building fund, but no money for capital improvements at the dump, Virginia Lake boat launch, and Keewaydin Lake and Mill Pond dams.

Another article asks if voters favor changing the town’s fiscal year from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 to July 1 through June 30.
