Lucien Breton


OXFORD – Lucien “Lou” Breton, 68, of Oxford, died at his home, Tuesday, July 3.

He was born in St. Zacharie Beauce PQ, June 19, 1939, the son of Victor E. and Estelle (Faucher) Breton. His parents moved to the U.S. where he was educated in Lewiston schools and also served in the U.S. Navy.

He married Nancy St. Pierre of Lewiston. He worked for Days Bedding of Auburn, where he learned the upholstery trade. He worked for Poulin’s Upholstery for 15 years. He and his wife, Nancy, bought and operated this business for another 15 years, known as Poulin’s Decorative Center. When he retired from the trade, he worked for a few years at Twarog Center, in Auburn. He loved hunting, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Oxford; a son, Steven and wife, Lois; a stepson, Michael Hood; one brother, Gaetan and wife, Karon; one sister, Pauline and husband, Rene Morin, all of Lewiston; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Gisele, in 1940; a brother, Yvan, in 1946; and his father, Victor, in 1998. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
