M. Perreault: The president’s empty promises

Four years ago, President Barack Obama promised the public many things. The picture he presented appealed to many Americans. “Time for a change” was what people wanted to hear.

I believed him and respected him because he wanted to make changes for a better life for all Americans. Obama is a good speaker, but that is all he is.

He did not keep his promises to the American people who put him in office. He soon forgot who they are. He is a spendthrift with the American people’s tax dollars.

People work hard and have difficulties making ends meet. Many families have little or nothing left after everything is paid for. Many people cannot afford another tax increase taken out of their paychecks. They need to keep that 2 percent just to live on.

Politicians are all well-to-do. They never had to scrape for every dollar. They don’t know what many Americans go through.

I voted for Obama because I did not like Mitt Romney. Romney supported the wealthy. Many felt the same way, voting for Obama, not because they wanted him, but because there was so little choice.

People’s hard-earned tax dollars are going to waste. We are receiving little in return. The 1.7 percent cost-of-living increase from Social Security is an insult. Government officials are laughing at us.

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer; always will because of greedy politicians. They must stop borrowing money from China. I also suggest they take a cut in pay.
