AUBURN — Madelene M. Brewer, 87, a resident of Bull Run Road, Wales, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, May 25, at Hospice House of Androscoggin.
She was born April 11, 1924, in Mexico, the daughter of Archie and Effie (Burnham) Hodson. Madelene attended school in Wales. On July 3, 1946, she married James H. Brewer; she met companion, Larry Anctil and they lived together until he passed away in 1979.
Madelene worked as a meat wrapper at Sampson’s Supermarket, Shop n’ Save and now known as Hannaford in Lewiston, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Wales Presbyterian Church. Madelene enjoyed time spent with her family, company of friends, her beautiful flower gardens and watching the birds in the birdfeeders.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Randy and Lucille Brewer of Greene, James and Deborah Brewer of Sabattus, Scott and Claire Brewer of Leeds and Kevin and Linda Brewer of Sabattus; 24 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Neale; her stepson, Charles Brewer; stepdaughters, Madelyn Atwood and Dolores Noyes; and her sisters, Hazel Harvey and Esther Martin.
