1926 – 2014
AUGUSTA — Mahlon E. Moore, 87, of Vienna, died early Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta.
He was born in Norridgewock, Oct. 8, 1926, a son of Leland A. and Inez L. (Stevens) Moore and was a 1944 graduate of Farmington High School. He made his home at the Moore farm on Chesterville Hill until 1990 and later happily resided in Vienna with his companion, Phyllis Neal.
He was a veteran of WWII and worked at Dana Butterfield’s Garage, Gordon’s Lumber Mill, Farmington Farmer’s Union, Horn Motors and SAD 9, retiring in 1991. He also had worked seasonally at his father’s corn shop as a young man.
He was a member and past master of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 123, member and past high priest of Franklin Chapter No. 34, member and past treasurer of Jepthah Council and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Lewiston and Portland. He was also a charter member of the Farmington Falls Fire Co. and a member of Mill Stream Grange of Vienna.
He is survived by three sisters, Genella Moore Butterfield, Sylvia Moore Barnwells Wells and Autice Moore Buckminister; a brother, Myron Moore; and several neices and nephews.
