Maine community colleges to freeze tuition

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Education officials say they’re freezing tuition at Maine’s seven community colleges for the coming academic year.

Maine Community College System President John Fitzsimmons said Wednesday keeping tuition low is part of the system’s commitment to make higher education as affordable as possible in Maine.

An average full-time student pays $2,520 a year.

Fitzsimmons said the freeze will make Maine the lowest-priced community college system in New England.
