Maine delegation credits raid that kills bin Laden


PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The four members of Maine’s congressional delegation are praising the U.S. military raid in Pakistan that killed Osama Bin Laden.

Sen. Susan Collins says “this welcome news is a credit to our intelligence efforts and brings justice” for the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

Sen. Olympia Snowe says Sunday marked “an historic and seminal moment for our nation and the world.”

U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud says bin Laden “has been brought to justice for the despicable attacks he organized against our country.”

And U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree says “justice has been served” and “we are grateful for the highly trained and effective intelligence and security forces that were able to hunt” him down.
