WINTHROP — Maine Dental Health Out-Reach Inc. has received a $350,000 grant from Next Generation Foundation of Maine. The grant will purchase a fully equipped three-chair mobile dental van, add a dentist to the staff and expand services to pregnant women and children ages 0-4.
This will allow Maine Dental Health Out-Reach’s Dental Hygiene Services for School Children mobile program to continue providing preventive care for years to come and now provide restorative and urgent care.
“Our current two-chair van is 18 years old and has been in dire need of replacement. We are thrilled that Next Generation Foundation of Maine recognizes the work we are doing and believes in investing in the long-term success of our program. We look forward to growing our program to serve more children and will continue to promote a Maine community with good oral health,” said Susanne LaVallee, executive director of Maine Dental Health Out-Reach.
Next Generation Foundation of Maine’s mission is to improve health, education and societal support for the most vulnerable populations of Maine. The foundation’s purpose aligns well with Maine Dental Health Out-Reach’s goal to improve the oral health of Maine children through providing comprehensive dental hygiene services to children that receive no regular dental care.
Maine Dental Health Out-Reach Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that provides oral health care services, such as cleanings, temporary fillings and case management services, to under-served children in a mobile van at Central and Western Maine schools.
