Maine: A land of taxation

I read the article that appeared in the April 21 Sun Journal titled ” Enough is enough, already.”

While our population is blossoming, we continue to lose a number of citizens to states with a more beneficial tax structure. We have lost senators, representatives, governors, authors, lawyers, doctors, engineers, contractors, bankers and other businesspeople.

The bottom line is that they will not pay our punitive state income tax (one of the highest in the nation) and our inheritance tax. As the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal has now stated twice: “Don’t die in the state of Maine.”

The leadership in Augusta doesn’t seem to understand or want to acknowledge these facts. They should check with the top law firms, accounting firms and bank trust officers.

We need to address this situation.
