Maine-made films will be screened in Bethel

BETHEL – The Celebration of Maine Filmmakers’ traveling program is coming to Bethel Thursday, April 27.

The celebration will bring award-winning Maine-made films and Maine filmmakers to Bingham Hall at Gould Academy for a 7 p.m. film screening and discussion.

The Celebration of Maine Filmmakers’ program was developed by the Maine Film Office, the Maine Film Commission, the Maine Film and Video Association and the Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) in Waterville.

With the help of a grant from the Maine Community Foundation, the film office last year created a traveling version of the celebration to bring Maine films and Maine filmmakers to a broader audience in the state. The Bethel event will be the final one for the 2005-2006 season.

Beside the evening screening April 27, the celebration has also organized a high school program for students from Gould Academy and Telstar Regional High School. The Bethel programs are presented with the assistance of the Mahoosuc Arts Council.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 624-9827.
