SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The Maine Center for Creativity is in the process of turning the giant oil tanks near the Portland International Jetport into works of art.
The first tank is painted with blues, black and yellow with lots of sharp, intersecting angles.
Artist Jaimi Gili is in Maine from his home in London to design the second tank, which will be painted blue, orange, black and spruce.
Center for Creativity Executive Director Jean Maginnis says the goal is to paint eight tanks and eight tank tops.
The Portland Press Herald says the group has raised $600,000 of the estimated $1.2 million that will be needed for the project.
