MACHIAS, Maine (AP) — A Maine preacher and his wife have been arrested on charges of kidnapping and custodial interference after his wife’s two daughters were found living on their own at a motel.

Thirty-four-year-old Colin Haag Jr. and 34-year-old Amanda Haag were arrested in Jonesport and were being held Wednesday in Washington County Jail.

Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Timothy Tabbutt says the children, ages 7 and 12, were returned to their father from Florida, who had been searching for them for two years.

Tabbutt told The Bangor Daily News that Haag had been representing himself at churches in Addison as a Baptist preacher, although the man never was ordained as a minister.
