Maine Veterans Home to present Memorial Day service

PARIS — Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee in conjunction with the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris will present a Memorial Day service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, in the multipurpose room at the facility located at 477 High St.

Included in the program for the annual Memorial Day service will be the flag raising, posting of colors, readings and music. Guest speaker for the day will be CEO of Stephens Memorial Hospital, Timothy Churchill.

Other features of this annual service include honoring all residents of the facility who have passed away over the year. A roll call is done giving each past resident a moment of honor and reflection. Also, a memorial wreath will be placed on the Gold Star Mothers Memorial, recently placed at the front entrance to the facility.

Participating in the event are members of the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee, staff members and residents of the facility, community members and the Sandy River Young Marines.
