PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A group of Mainers didn’t let the rain deter them for lining up for tickets to see President Barack Obama at the Portland Expo.
The queue formed in the wee hours as residents gathered in hopes of getting tickets, which were available first come, first-served at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The Thursday event is part of Obama’s effort to sell his health care overhaul at campaign-style events across the country. Obama is expected to speak around 3:30 p.m.
After speaking in Maine, Obama will be moving on to Boston, where he’ll attend a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee.
