Man escapes serious injury in crash


GREENWOOD – A North Waterford man escaped without serious injury early Friday morning when his truck slid off Greenwood Road and rolled down an embankment.

James C. Verrill was driving near Hicks Pond when his pickup truck veered off the roadway, police said.

The crash was being investigated by Maine State Police Trooper James Nolan, who was off duty later Friday night. Further details about the crash were not available.

A nursing supervisor at Stephens Memorial Hospital said Friday night that Merrill was not seen at the Norway hospital.
