Man gets 10 years to life in drug death

BRENTWOOD, N.H. (AP) – A Rockingham County judge sentenced a Newton man to 10 years to life in prison Thursday for dispensing a controlled drug that resulted in his girlfriend’s death.

Dante Silva’s attorney, Mark Sisti, said he will appeal the sentence. Silva’s girlfriend, Caitlin Brady, died in March 2006 from the toxic effects of heroin. Judge Tina Nadeau said Silva showed a disregard for Brady’s life. She said he could have stopped Brady from taking the drug, but didn’t. County Attorny Jim Reams said the sentence shows that people will be held accountable.
