MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – A man was sentenced to six to 15 years in state prison Monday after pleading guilty to causing the death of his passenger in a car accident, just days after he was convicted of drunken driving.

John Owen, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of negligent homicide in the October 2004 crash. He was sentenced in Hillsborough County Superior Court.

Police said alcohol was involved in that killed June Anderson Littles, 21, who was ejected from the car after Owen ran a stop sign and collided with another car.

Littles and Owen were from Danville, Va. Owens had two prior drunken driving convictions, one out of Virginia in 1998 and the second out of the Merrimack District Court on Sept. 30, 2004, three days before the accident.

“This is as negligent a homicide as you get,” Judge Gillian Abramson told Owen.
