Margaret A. Dunlap


AUBURN – Margaret A. Dunlap, 86, of Schooner Estates, formerly of Sterling Road, Auburn, died Monday, July 2, at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

She was born in New Gloucester on Oct. 26, 1920, a daughter to the late Brazilla and Ethel (Grey) Goff. She graduated from New Gloucester High School, Class of 1937, as valedictorian. After high school she attended Bliss College and graduated in 1939. She married the love of her life, Clark Dunlap, on Dec. 1, 1939, he predeceased her on Feb. 17, 1991. She worked for many years at Patrons-Oxford Ins. Co. and Hood’s Mailing & Printing. She enjoyed traveling cross country with her husband, sewing, embroidering and spending time with her family.

She leaves three daughters, Barbara Johnson, and her husband, Richard, of Poland, Pauline Bockus, and her husband, Fred, of Harpswell and Carolyn Steele, and her husband, John, of Auburn; a son, Arthur Dunlap, and his wife, Sandra, of Poland; nine grandchildren, Cyndi (Bockus) Matthews, Bill Bockus, Deb Bockus, Harrison Johnson, Dave Johnson, Joe Johnson, Sam Johnson, Ben Steele, Becca Steele; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marion Tripp of Danville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters; and a brother.
