Martha C. Finks


YARMOUTH – Martha C. Finks, 80, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully at Coastal Manor on April 11, with her loving husband and family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 30, 1925, and was the third child born to Alfred and Alma (Bernier) Malo. She attended parochial schools in Lewiston.

She was a telephone operator before starting her family in 1948. She worked at Bates Mill for many years, before moving to Portland in 1958. She worked for many years at Health-Tex in Portland, before retiring in 1983.

She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings. Everyone always wanted one of her special apple or blueberry pies instead of cake for their birthdays.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Gerald of Westbrook; one daughter, Janet Etheridge and her husband, Archie, of Dayton; two sons, Gregory G. Davis and his wife, Pam, of Saco and Richard F. David and his wife, Darleen, of Portland; six grandchildren, Melissa Chadbourne of Lyman, Avery Etheridge of Old Orchard Beach, Billie-Jean Steer of Camden, Robert Davis of Saco, Kim Davis of South Portland and Kelly Rizzo of South Portland; five great-grandchildren, Benjamin D. Chadbourne, Joshua J. Chadbourne, Emma Steer, Jack Steer and Addison Rizzo.

She was predeceased by her son, Edward Finks in 1992; a granddaughter, Pauline Alma Williams in 1972; three sisters; and her only brother.
