Mary A. Field


FARMINGTON – Mary A. Field, 92, of Dryden died Friday, May 12, after a short illness at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born, May 15, 1913, in Portland, the daughter of James and Ellen (Cunningham) Bickford. She attended Catholic school until the eighth grade.

On Feb. 17, 1931, she married Kenneth E. Field. They were married 62 wonderful years before his death on Aug. 4, 1993.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker to her family who she cherished her time with and were the cornerstone of her life. She enjoyed western movies, playing games with family and friends, going to camp in Oquossoc and avid conversationalist. She also enjoyed computer games and wintering in Florida with her daughter, Edie, and her companion, Arnie.

She is survived by nine children, Eddie and Louise Field of Jay, Edie Kennedy and her companion, Arnie, of Dryden, Ethel and Bob Lizotte of Sarasota, Fla., Ernie and Chong Field of Petersburg, Va., Freddie Field of Virginia Beach, Va., Ginny and Mike Lorraine of Casco, Maurice and Stephanie Field of Norfolk, Va., Norman Field and his companion, Sharon, of Norfolk, Va. and Cathy and Jim Parker of Wilton; 39 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great grandchilren who she enjoyed immensely.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; three daughters, Ellen Field, Ruth Field and Mary Thompson; two daughters-in-law, Mary Field and Claire Field; a son-in-law, Rockwood Kennedy; a sister, Cecilia; three brothers, Ernie, John and Happy; and four grandchildren.
