Maturity behind the wheel

Wake up, people of Maine. Let’s get these 17-year-old kids out from behind the wheels of motor vehicles.

These kids of 17, 18, 19 and 20 years do not have the driving experience or maturity to be driving a motor vehicle on our highways. I don’t care how much driver education these kids get, it still will not give them the maturity it takes to drive.

I say 21 should be the age anyone should be allowed to be driving. That is no magic number, but at least by 21 they might have a little more maturity to be driving safely.

A lot of people will disagree with my suggestion, but what if it were your teenager who was killed? Would it make a difference?
