Maurice R. Morissette
1923 – 2010
AUBURN — Maurice R. Morissette, 86 of Lewiston, died Thursday, March 4, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
He was born in Lewiston, April 29, 1923, the son of the late Ferdinand and Clara Bilodeau Morissette and stepmother Rose Theriault. He was educated in Auburn schools and was married June 21, 1947 to Irene Caron Morissette, who predeceased him in 2006.
He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church and was instrumental in the remodeling of the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106. He enjoyed playing cards and other games with family and friends. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Morissette & Son Oil.
He is survived by his three daughters, Joan Girouard and husband, Michael, of Florida, Susan Moret and Laurie Larsen and husband, Eric of Ohio; two sons, Roland Morissette and partner, Ted Ampe, of Auburn and Leo Morissette and partner, Judy Gaghan, of Durham; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Morin of Poland.
