McGillicuddy named to CMMC staff

LEWISTON — Edward McGillicuddy, M.D., a vascular surgeon, has been appointed to the Central Maine Medical Center Medical Staff. He is practicing with Central Maine Vascular Associates in Lewiston.

Prior to joining the greater Lewiston-Auburn medical community, McGillicuddy was a vascular surgery fellow at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He completed a surgical residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn.

Vascular surgeons, including endovascular surgeons, provide medical and surgical care for patients with diseases involving the circulatory system, including aneurysms, strokes and artery disease affecting the legs.

McGillicuddy is trained in both conventional open surgery and minimally invasive procedures. Minimally invasive vascular surgery, also called endovascular surgery, is performed with miniaturized instruments through small incisions, which minimizes tissue damage and speeds recovery.

He is certified by the American Board of Surgery.

McGillicuddy practices at the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, 60 High St. The office can be reached at 795-8260.
