A. McKay Barnett: Wind power keeps blowing through

The Legislature’s Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee did not bring wind bills to a vote, again.

More than 35 Maine towns voted ordinances explicitly to stop industrial wind power, although they could not openly state that at the time. Those ordinances represent thousands of votes against the destruction of views and watersheds; against unnecessary bird deaths, property loss, etc.

Although I really do not know who the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee listens to, I have witnessed many, many public hearings in front of that committee. Testimony comes from paid professionals espousing the same old sound byte of billions of dollars invested in jobs.

Billions of dollars were stimulated overseas, but the EUT Committee is selling Mainers short. The money will be gone and Maine’s mountaintops will be dead, bedrock ledges.
