Memorial Day ceremonies are planned


JAY – Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 29, for the Livermore Falls-Jay area have been announced.

Everyone will meet at VFW Post 3335 at 6:30 a.m. prior to services at Livermore Falls Memorial Bridge at 7 p.m. held by Amvets Post 33.

Participants will be at Livermore Veterans Memorial at 7:30 a.m. for a ceremony conducted by the American Legion Post 10. At 8 a.m. they will be at the Jay POW/MIA Bridge for a ceremony by the VFW Post 3335.

A program will be presented by Hyla Friedman and Jay residents at 8:30 a.m. at the Jay Hill Cemetery.

Line-up for the parade will start 9 a.m. at the MEMCO building, Main Street, and the parade will step off at 10.

Along the parade route prayers and a ceremony will be conducted by the Knights of Columbus at the Chisholm Square World War II Monument.

Prayers and a ceremony will be presented by Amvets Post 33 at the Richardson Cemetery Monument followed by prayers and a ceremony at the Grand Army of the Republic Monument, presented by American Legion Post 10.

Livermore Falls Park World War I and World War II Monuments will also be the sites for prayers and ceremony by VFW Post 3335.

Fire, police and emergency services will also offer prayers and lay wreaths.

Everyone will gather after the parade for a ceremony at 12:15 p.m. at the Fayette Veterans Memorial, conducted by the American Legion.
