Middle school students travel to Montreal

HEBRON — The Hebron Academy Middle School students recently spent a weekend in Montreal, Canada. After a five-hour bus ride, the kids were ready to get out and stretch their legs, and the group walked down St. Catherine Street, known for its shops and restaurants.

The following day was packed with a visit to the Montreal Science Center, where the kids explored the many hands-on exhibits in Science 26 (A to Z); participated in an interactive video game, landing a rover on Mars; and visualized what science may bring in the future in the exhibit Imagine.

The group walked around the Old Port, visiting the many souvenir shops, and they ran up to the top of Mont Royal, seeing the view of the city. They ended the day at a Cabane a Sucre (sugar shack), where the group was served a family-style meal full of native maple syrup.

The 41 middle school kids with their chaperones stayed at a hostel in Montreal, which ended up being many of the kids’ favorite part of the trip. Middle School Director Paul Brouwer said of the weekend, “The students really came together as a group and bonded on our recent trip to Montreal. Their energy and enthusiasm combined with the beauty and history of the city made for an exciting and educational experience for all of us.”
